But let’s focus on the frozen custard for now. While the signs outdoors promised only custard and burgers, a full-fledged menu of fast-food sandwiches, sundaes and sides was available. One step inside proved there existed a new order of fast food for me: everything was immaculately clean, from the brushed stainless steel counters and custard-spewing nozzles to the crisp white aprons draped across the staff’s adorably oldschool soda fountain-style uniforms. I didn’t have the time nor the tenacity to try everything, but I did know that a stop at Kopp’s Greenfield location was not to be missed. There are also numerous freestanding mom-and-pop custard and burger shops, as a drive through rural parts can evidence. The most well-known of a small handful of regional chains of its kind, it was the only one I’d caught wind of in NYC. The first stop was at Kopp’s Frozen Custard. I’ll think about the health repercussions of that theory if I happen to be traveling in the Midwest again very soon. So while taking a sojourn outside of Milwaukee this holiday week (my first time in the Midwest), I ate lots and lots of frozen custard, washed down with malt shakes and local beers. There is no greater failure for the food-obsessed than to refuse some regional specialty, whatever it may be. I’m a strong believer in eating whatever’s plentiful when traveling in unfamiliar territory. And I’m not at home, haven’t been for a week - I’m in the frozen custard capital of the world. In my estimation, there is little difference between (very rich) ice cream and frozen custard, except that frozen custard is not designed to be, and is therefore not typically, made at home. The entry states, “Frozen custard is usually prepared fresh at the place of sale, rather than stored.” They both can be served by the scoop, or in soft-serve form. Wikipedia attributes it to a higher temperature than ice cream when served also, its production to a fast-freezing barrel that churns out the product more quickly than traditional ice cream makers. Frozen custard, like its less-cold forebear, engages egg yolks in the emulsion, but so does rich ice creams. I spend a lot of money at Please say this isn't true. Specifically their "special day" on October 9th. The move seems like an unexpectedly political one from the longstanding Milwaukee custard favorite. Cupcakes for Life founded the day as a positive way to discuss pro-life awareness." Cupcakes are a sweet way to get a conversation started on a difficult subject. The day also raises awareness about the issue of abortion. The custard restaurant did not explain how the oversight happened.Īccording to NationalDa圜, "On this day, cupcakes are baked to honor the lives of those not yet born. This afternoon, their tweet further explained, "Going forward, we strive to be more diligent in reviewing our flabor lists and any flavors we may link to a national holiday." but did not hear back before running the article an hour later. OnMilwaukee first reached out to Kopp's a little after 11 a.m. I was really looking forward to these brackets taking away some noise from the oem front brackets. Kind of unfortunate that these don't work. Other than that, quality of the brackets are top notch, but they don't work. I was able to bolt on bracket up to the hardtop, but it pulled the hardtop so far forward that it was sitting on top of the A-Pillars. I went ahead and tried to just fully install one bracket with nothing on the other side and it even had trouble with the bolt holes lining up properly. The bracket and the bolt holes were 2-4mm off and it was hitting the inside direction interior. I had one side bolted and kept it loose for some free play and went to the other side and there's no way it can line up. I tried everything and couldn't get the brackets to work. I had the hardtop completely unbolted so I can play with the fitment. Has anyone installed these on their mr2 spyder yet? Idk if I got a bad front set, but I went and tried to install them today and the fitment was way off. These brackets are 125 euros plus shipping for a full set of fronts and rears, though it's also possible of course to get just the fronts or just the rears for 70 euros. These brackets are 145 euros plus shipping for a full set of fronts and rears, though it's also possible of course to get just the fronts or just the rears for 80 euros. Have someone apply a bit of downward pressure on the hardtop when bolting on the rear brackets, so the hardtop will have a good seal.įinally: the rear brackets are marked "R" and "L" to avoid confusion during installation. Secondly: The holes of the rear brackets have some play. If I recall correctly, they're Torx 40 for the front latches and Torx 30 for the rear ones. For this reason you should be extremely careful undoing these bolts as they strip very easily. Here are some tips that might save a bit of hassle: The OEM bolts that Toyota used for the stock latches are made of very soft steel. For that purpose they come with all the bolts and washers required. Made of aluminium 5mm (front) and 6mm (rear) thick, they don't require any modification to your car and bolt right on. They have been some time in the making, but are now available: Both front and rear hardtop brackets. 8)īest money spend on the car yet and the install took me less than 45 minutes including cleanup. For the very few of you who might, as I do, run your hardtop permanently, here's a chance to save a fair bit of weight and lose the rattles of the latches at the same time. Even as it is with a stock alignment the car is exponentially more fun in the twisties than it was stock. Once I have settled on an alignment I like I can use the bar to fine tune the car to my preferences. The change isn't drastic but it is like someone just raised the handling bar another notch or two. The car is certainly less prone to understeer under mid corner acceleration. That limit is easily 5mph higher now and much more safe feeling. I took the car to a few familiar curves that I drive everyday and have learned the cars limit on. With the settings as I have it the car is very neutral. This makes the car feel more precise and quicker to respond in my opinion.and I love it. At speed the car is much flatter when you cut the wheel as expected. The car doesn't ride any stiffer as far as I can tell. I have the front bar at full stiff and the rear bar at the second softest setting. Install of the rear bar took me 10 minutes. Just unbolt the rear endlinks and rear brackets and rotate the bar a bit as you slide it out. and the Whiteline was a bit heavier at 6.2 lbs. Many people get a tattoo of Medusa tatted on their bodies to earn a sense of protectiveness from all the negativity surrounding them, especially to keep them away from all the haters. The meaning behind the Medusa tattoo links to the story behind this monstrous creature that has many protective instincts. If you plan on getting a unique tattoo such as a Medusa tattoo, make sure you stick around and go through the different Medusa tattoo ideas and their mythical and powerful meanings. But that shouldn’t matter as long as you can relate to it. Not many people will understand why you would go with a tattoo of Medusa. Women get Medusa tattoos for many reasons, and now that the design has been more modified into different colors and the way it appears, people are more likely to get this tattoo. Medusa’s story may be just a myth, but many women till today look up to her as they see many feminine instincts in Medusa’s character. Medusa derives from Greek mythology she was one of the most powerful monstrous women who could kill men with a flick of a stone. While underground, they find out that Jimbo, Kearney and Dolph have been sent by Principal Skinner to steal museum artifacts. When Bart tries out his powers (he turns into Bartman), he finds Homer and they go down the man hole near the Springfield Natural History Museum (Homer was going to shoot bats while reading swimsuit magazines). along the way Homer kills some brown chocolate bunnies and climbs a big cake before he wakes up and it was all a dream.īart buys Grand Theft Scratchy from the Sequel Stop only to have it confiscated by Marge (she puts it is Homer's underwear drawer along with his BB gun and swimsuit magazines) then when Bart goes in an alley outside he finds the Simpsons Game manual. Homer is in a chocolate world when he meets a white chocolate bunny. In the Xbox and PS3 version, all of Springfield can be explored and the levels are started from certain buildings, depending on the main location of the level. There are several hubs in which these can be picked up: the Simpsons house, the backyard of the house, and the game engine. Some of them can be picked up randomly, while most of them have to be completed to get to the next one. Maggie has no powers, but Marge can send her through small openings into shafts that her family can't access. In the Xbox and PS3 version, Marge's shield item is a police hat to turn into "Marge Cop", which makes her stronger and invincible while her mob can throw rocks at enemies (She's the only character that doesn't get nerfed when invincible, merely that she can't use the megaphone blowback). His main power is eating to turn into Homer Ball, a big ball to burst or slam enemies or walls. Integrating AI into virtual simulations could also soon take the experience to another level, Schwartz said. But they can also become creators, documenting and sharing immersive media that shows the effects where they live.” “Students can learn about the effects of climate change, say, by virtually experiencing the impact on a particular environment. “This is an area that’s really going to explode over the next couple of years,” said Kristen Pilner Blair, director of research for the Digital Learning initiative at the Stanford Accelerator for Learning, which runs a program exploring the use of virtual field trips to promote learning. With new technologies, students can create their own local interactive 360-degree scenarios, using just a cell phone or inexpensive camera and simple online tools. The educational possibilities now go beyond putting on a headset and experiencing life in a distant location. The use of immersive technologies like augmented reality, virtual reality, and mixed reality is also expected to surge in the classroom, especially as new high-profile devices integrating these realities hit the marketplace in 2024. “We need to teach students how to understand and think critically about this technology.” Immersive environments “AI is not going away,” said Lee, who is also director of CRAFT (Classroom-Ready Resources about AI for Teaching), which provides free resources to help teach AI literacy to high school students across subject areas. He also emphasized the need to teach students now to begin questioning and critiquing the development and use of AI. “I’m heartened to see some movement toward creating AI tools that make teachers’ lives better – not to replace them, but to give them the time to do the work that only teachers are able to do,” he said. As schools move to adopt policies around students’ use of the tool, many are also beginning to explore potential opportunities – for example, to generate reading assignments or coach students during the writing process.ĪI can also help automate tasks like grading and lesson planning, freeing teachers to do the human work that drew them into the profession in the first place, said Victor Lee, an associate professor at the GSE and faculty lead for the AI + Education initiative at the Stanford Accelerator for Learning. Educators immediately worried that students would use the chatbot to cheat by trying to pass its writing off as their own. In 2023, the big story in technology and education was generative AI, following the introduction of ChatGPT and other chatbots that produce text seemingly written by a human in response to a question or prompt. Here, Schwartz and other Stanford education scholars weigh in on some of the technology trends taking center stage in the classroom this year. With these funds running out in September 2024, schools are trying to determine their best use of technology as they face the prospect of diminishing resources. This is a moment to pay attention, to do things differently.”įor K-12 schools, this year also marks the end of the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funding program, which has provided pandemic recovery funds that many districts used to invest in educational software and systems. “But there are a lot of ways we teach that aren’t great, and a big fear with AI in particular is that we just get more efficient at teaching badly. “Technology is a game-changer for education – it offers the prospect of universal access to high-quality learning experiences, and it creates fundamentally new ways of teaching,” said Dan Schwartz, dean of Stanford Graduate School of Education (GSE), who is also a professor of educational technology at the GSE and faculty director of the Stanford Accelerator for Learning. But that promise is not without its pitfalls. For educators, at the heart of it all is the hope that every learner gets an equal chance to develop the skills they need to succeed. New advances in technology are upending education, from the recent debut of new artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots like ChatGPT to the growing accessibility of virtual-reality tools that expand the boundaries of the classroom.
